There are plants that rabbits and hares don't like, but the tastes of these animals also differ.
There are plants that they generally like very much, and there are plants that can be poisonous. An overview of plants that they should not like can be found below.
WHAT PLANTS DO I USE TO KEEP RABBITS OUT OF MY GARDEN?
HELP, RABBITS IN MY GARDEN!
In particular, semi-open, somewhat rural gardens are attractive to a rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) . Because they live in groups and have several litters per year, a group of rabbits can expand considerably. They mainly eat grass, branches, roots and bark.
Rabbits can be kept out by fencing the garden around. The grid should be 80 to 100 cm high. Many rabbits will prefer to walk around if it is sloped outwards and also placed 20 to 30 cm deep in the ground. Leaving a radio on softly at night would help keep rabbits out of the garden , because they think there are people around.
Sprinkles and fragrance powders spread an unpleasant odor for rabbits and hares. Finally, there are pest controllers who catch rabbits with the help of ferrets, who chase the rabbits, after which they can be tied into safety nets. The garden can also be made less attractive for rabbits or hares by planting plants that they don't like. Of course there are also taste differences in rabbits and hares. And persistent severe cold, when food supplies are scarcer, can also affect eating behavior. Then they prefer to eat prunings than fresh branches, so that perhaps some distraction can be provided.
In addition to rabbits that are kept outside the garden, there are of course also enthusiasts who want to keep tame rabbits in the garden. They will be more interested in plants that rabbits like, or that can be dangerous for rodents. Plants that will be little or rarely affected by rabbits can be found below.
